The castle of Tournon is one of the must beautiful in the Ardeche. It was built between the 14th and 16th century...
The large main building, where the rich lords lived Tournon, testifies to the architectural evolution of the building: a lighter weight and a concern for decoration are visible. The many windows and mullioned windows are a good example.
In 1928, a Rhône museum is installed in the castle. It revolves around four departments: Lenthéric room dedicated to models dam, the room dedicated to Marc Seguin bridge, evoking the sailors and finally the living contemporary navigation. The current museum has maintained this orientation through several rooms relating to Rhone theme.
Today the history of the museum collections recalls the importance of gifts and bequests, and various multiples, which were made for the benefit of the museum. Collections have thus added big-name artists, Raoul Dufy to Marcel Gimond through André Lhote.
